Even with the Board of Officers going out and beating on doors to try and get sponsorship from bars and asking to hang sign up sheets in their bars to bring more people into the league, membership continued to hover around teams, and financial support was limited. Cornhole, Dodgeball, eSports, Flag Football, Kickball, Outdoors, Pickleball, Rodeo, Rugby, Running, Soccer, Softball, Tennis, Volleyball.

There were 6 women's teams: Happy Days, High Country, North 40, Unicorn, Jugs and MCC. The Round-Up Saloon won the league title inand represented Dallas in its first appearance in the NAGAAA Softball World Series held in Houston, Texas. While having no local gay league to play in, they traveled around the country playing in tournaments in Tulsa, Houston, and others. Uncover HTX today! Steve Tracy, who was a sports writer for the Dallas Morning News, started a sports column in the Dallas Voice under the name Joe Jock. Inthe first Miss OLSA Pageant and Switch-hitters Ball were held with Bill McKnight aka Minnie Mouse winning the pageant with her rendition of "Where the Boys Are" on a pool table at Big Daddy's Bar.

The Hunky's softball team took the first ever Switch-hitters trophy. Both of these men drove up to Dallas for our first year Opening Day to support us. Through the 80s and early 90s, league membership and participation was still difficult to maintain and there were years where we did not know if we could obtain the minimum number of teams required by NAGAAA to retain membership.

Knowing the league's growth would be dependent upon joining NAGAAA, Dallas petitioned for membership at the winter meeting in Houston in Bill Smith and David Walker spearheaded this tremendous effort and deserve a lot of credit for their hard work and gaining acceptance into NAGAAA. GSWS Update: As a member of International Pride Softball, WESA provides its members with opportunities to participate in tournaments such as the Gay Softball World Series.

Smith proposed to David Walker that they form their own league in Dallas. Because financial support was limited, there was a need to develop fundraisers to help build up and support the league expenses while also providing funds for the teams participating in the annual World Series.
